Denali Climb and Training

New Years Eve Mt. Colden Climb

Finished off 2011 with a great hike up Mt. Colden with a fellow crossfitter’s Northeast Extreme Adventure Club.  It was a rainy start to the day and quite warm for most of the trip.  Eventually we made it up high enough it cooled down and the rain stopped.  We had some amazing views up top for a few brief moments as the clouds cleared.

After the hike we cleaned up and went out to the Lake Placid Brew Pub to celebrate New Years.  We ended up waiting several hours for a table for our group of 11 it was a bit crazy as the Brew Pub wasn’t all that busy.  I don’t think they liked our impromptu max pull up contest in the back of the bar. This is what happens when you get Crosfitters together in a bar and there are low enough ceiling beams that you can jump up and reach them just calling out for us to do pullups. After several unplanned hours of unintended intermittent fasting I was able to keep dinner all Paleo without too much custom ordering but I did have to return my salad for having feta on it, the turkey burger minus the bun was actually quite good but I think I could have eaten anything at that point and thought it was great.  After dinner we were all so tired we ended up going back to the hotel and to our rooms.  I think I passed out at exactly 12:01 since we had to get up at 6 for round 2 (Street & Nye) in the morning.
